Update Planning Parameters on SKU

Manually Updating Planning Parameters

Below is a guide to manually update the planning parameters for SKUs in GoldFinch:

Key Planning Fields for SKUs

SKU Field Name

Field Help

Purchase Unit of Measure

The unit of measure used to create purchase orders or work orders based on the order type set in the Replenishment System. For batch-manufactured items, the Batch Unit of Measure on the Item card is used for work orders.

Reorder Cycle Days

All demand and supply quantities are grouped into reorder cycle periods. This is optional and can be left blank if not needed.

Locked Safety Stock

User-defined safety stock level (same as the reorder point). Sets the minimum inventory on hand requirement. Optional.

Safety Stock Days

Defines the number of days to maintain safety stock. Optional.

Reorder Policy

Must be set to Fixed Reorder Quantity.

Locked Reorder Qty.

User-defined reorder quantity. This is the minimum quantity for replenishment orders. Optional.

Locked Lead Time Days

Defines user-specified lead time for generating supply orders. Optional. GoldFinch assigns dates based on this field using the following logic:

  • Purchase Order Dates

    • Expected Receipt Date = Plan Date

    • Order Date = Plan Date - Locked Lead Time Days

  • Work Order Dates

    • Ending Date = Plan Date

    • Starting Date = Plan Date - Locked Lead Time Days

  • Transfer Order Dates

    • Expected Receipt Date = Plan Date

    • Order Date = Plan Date - Locked Lead Time Days

    • Shipment Date = Plan Date - Locked Lead Time Days

Replenishment System

The system used for replenishment must be set to Purchase, Work Order, or Transfer Order. If left blank, the SKU will not be included in supply planning. For Transfer Order, the Transfer-from Warehouse is required.

Preferred Vendor

Optional. If left blank, this must be manually filled in on the Supply Plan before creating purchase orders.

Purchasing Agent

Optional. Specifies the individual responsible for purchasing activities of the SKU.

Order Multiples

Defines the quantity, based on the Purchase Unit of Measure, to round up the supply order. For example, if you always purchase units of 24 cases, set the Purchase Unit of Measure to "Case" and enter 24 here. Entering 1 will avoid creating decimal supply quantities in your orders. This field is optional.

Maximum Qty.

GoldFinch will use this value to break down suggested order quantities into multiple supply orders during Supply Plan calculations.

Use Calculated Parameters

This field is unchecked by default. See the section below for further explanation.

Mass Update of Planning Parameters

To update planning parameters for multiple SKUs, follow these steps:

  1. Export SKU Records: Export the planning parameters to Excel.

  2. Update Parameters: Make your changes in Excel.

  3. Import Updated Values: Use the Salesforce Import Wizard to upload the updated parameters back into GoldFinch.

Using Calculated Parameters

If you have at least 2 years of historical data in GoldFinch, you can run the Supply Plan Daily Calculations Routine to calculate the following parameters:

  • Calculated Daily Usage

  • Calculated Lead Time Days

  • Calculated Reorder Qty.

  • Calculated Safety Stock (Calculated Daily Usage x Safety Stock Days)

These parameters can be compared with your existing locked parameters for accuracy and relevance. After reviewing, you can choose to apply these calculated values in your supply planning by enabling the Use Calculated Parameters option.

Enabling Calculated Parameters

To enable the use of calculated parameters:

  • The Allow to Use Calculated Parameters option must be checked in the Demand Planning Setup.

  • If this option is not enabled, you will not be able to check Use Calculated Parameters during supply planning.
