Create and Post Transfer Shipments
Overview
When a Transfer Order is ready to be processed in the warehouse, you need to create a Warehouse Shipment. This allows the warehouse staff to pick, pack, and ship goods to the destination warehouse.
Creating a Warehouse Shipment
Click Create Shipment to create a Warehouse Shipment from the Transfer Order. The shipment will be based on the items currently allocated to the Transfer Order.
Mass Create Whse. Shipments
To streamline the process, GoldFinch allows you to create Warehouse Shipments for multiple Transfer Orders in bulk.
From the Transfer Order List:
Select the Create Shipments list view.
Choose the Transfer Orders for which you want to create shipments.
Click the Mass Create Shipments button to generate Warehouse Shipments for all selected Transfer Orders.
Editing the Warehouse Shipment
Click Edit. You can update details such as the Shipping Agent, Actual Shipment Date, and Quantity to Ship on the Warehouse Shipment.
Assigning Lot Numbers
If you are shipping lot-tracked items, GoldFinch offers several options for assigning lot numbers:
Automatic Lot Assignment:
If both the Bypass Pick and Populate Lots when Create Shipment checkboxes are selected on the Warehouse, GoldFinch will automatically assign lot numbers on a FEFO (First Expiration First Out) basis for lot-tracked items.
Manual Lot Assignment:
If Bypass Pick is not selected, you must create a Pick Ticket to select inventory from warehouse bins.
If Bypass Pick is selected but Populate Lots when Create Shipment is not checked, you will need to manually enter lot numbers for the shipment before posting.
Visual Indicator for Lot Assignment:
The color of the Enter Lots button indicates the status of lot number assignments:
Green: Lots have been assigned for the full quantity.
Red: Lots still need to be assigned.
Entering Lot Numbers:
Click the Enter Lots button to input each item's lot numbers.
Alternatively, click Enter Shipping Lots to assign lot numbers for multiple items at once.
Click Add Tracking Lines, then enter the Lot No(s) and corresponding Quantities.
Save the Warehouse Shipment.
Posting the Warehouse Shipment
Once the lot numbers are entered (and the Enter Lots button is green), follow these steps:
Click Post:
Post the Warehouse Shipment after all necessary adjustments have been made.
Managing Back Orders:
Only one Warehouse Shipment is allowed per Transfer Order. If there are backorder quantities, delete them from the Transfer Order before posting the shipment, or follow this guide to update the Warehouse Shipment.
Movement Entries:
Posting the Warehouse Shipment will create Movement Warehouse Entries, moving the inventory out of the From Warehouse and into the In-Transit Warehouse.
