Finish the Work Order

Overview

Once you have completed entering both output and consumption for your Production Journal, Post the Production Journal to update the Inventory and Work Order.  This will process the inventory adjustments and make the output available for use.  

Finish the Work Order

The final step in Work Order processing is to Finish the Work Order.  However, you only want to do this once you have posted all related Production Journals.  If you recall from previous sections, you are able to have multiple Production Journals for each Work Order, so keep this in mind. 

When you are ready, click the Finish button on the Work Order page. 

This process not only closes the Work Order for future posting, but it calculates the actual cost of the output, based on materials and services.
